Morning… it always pass by very slowly. By once it past 12pm, time seem to speed up. Or was it because of the coffee I habitually drank every afternoon? Time is relative. Time is how our mind perceive it… Einstein is indeed the smartest person alive to invent the Theory of Relativity. (Either that, or he must have a heavy dose of caffeine that day)
Yesterday, I went out with Edmund and Lim Han. Took Bus 135 to AMK Hub and I really want to mention a very friendly bus driver. When we are waiting for the bus to come to a halt, Mr Driver signal to us to stop walking to catch with the bus. He stopped right in front of us for our convenience. When we boarded the bus, Mr Driver greeted us and waited till we sat down before giving a hand signal indicating he’s leaving the bus stop. Mr Driver waved at fellow bus drivers along the way.
His hand signs is so much that I can feel that some people sitting at my side is noising their irritation. It goes to show that in this world, its hard to please everyone. When a bus driver is rude, people complain. When Mr Driver of Bus 135 shows abit of friendliness, people get uncomfortable and talk behind his back (literally, its behind his back right?).
That’s why I really want to take this chance to compliment Mr Driver of Bus 135. That’s also why I recorded down the event on my iTouch just in case I forget. For those who can’t read chinese (like my dear), it say, ‘I met a very friendly bus driver today. Was almost shocked by his friendliness’ and I also recorded down the Bus license plate in case there is a chance I can vote for the ‘Most Friendly Bus Driver’. Forward this the SBS or something. Mr Driver deserve an award or something =)
After meeting Lim Han and Edmund, we had lunch and went ‘guy shopping’. Can really see the difference when guys shop and when gals shop. We are very specific. We just go straight to the store we want. Never walk around just to look, see, look, see…
Edmund wanted to buy a new phone. How can a Apple Fanboy not pushed the iPhone to him? Eventually, I convinced Edmund, iPhone is a good buy. Value for money, app-based and will not go out of date so fast (unlike other phone whereby you are tempted to buy a new one when a new model came out). An older model of iPhone will work the same as the new model when you update the software. The only difference is that newer model will have better spec (more memory, faster processor). Don’t think an iPhone as a phone. Think it as a miniature computer (I wasn’t the only person saying that, fyi).
It can do anything a computer can do, if you seriously think about it. There are more than 30k apps (last checked) and growing… There are apps for ‘Working Out’, apps for ‘Managing Money’, apps for ‘Getting Things Done’… and more.
Yeap. I’m also brainwashing my fellow blog reader. At $199 with plan, you can’t go wrong. No plan? Use a friend’s Singtel plan to buy 
We went to play L4D afterwards. As you can see, there’s only 3 of us. In the campaign, Dead Air, we barely survived to the last stage if not for a stranger playing as the 4th player. We were killed 2 time in the last stage before… we win and escaped. He escaped. The stranger managed to survive while me, Edmund and Lim Han die.
Yes… all 3 of us noob die in the end even if we completed the game.

GOOD NEWS! Realizing that my readers are coming back to check for update more often after my last few posts, I decided to start writing often again. (this post is boring and texty, read it only if you can’t get to sleep)
For those of you who know me personally, you would have know that my passion is to be an entrepreneur, a businessman, a boss. However, when I was asked what kind of business do I want to go into, I would have given the excuses that I have 2 years serving in the army to think about it. The truth is, I do not know what I want to do. That was still me a few day ago…
Is it sooo… hard to think what kind of business to open? Answer = yes. At the back of my head, what we as designer can do is… web design company, t-shirt company, magazine company etc. These are the kind of business that a normal ‘businessman’ would open, but not an entrepreneur. There’s a distinct different between someone who just setup business(for the sake of being boss) and an entrepreneur. Unlike most bosses, entrepreneurs are the ones who look for opportunities and come up with innovative solutions.
Secondly, the business I want to open should also involve people around me. Like my friends for example, who is mainly designers. I hope to get them in as partners and work together in the future. Deep inside me, I’m always a designer and is proud to be one, so no matter what is the nature of the business, it shouldn’t deviate too far away from design.
Some of you guys might have known that I am also into Internet Marketing and a more or less experienced in SEO (i owned a few sites that has over 10k of visitors per month) but I never intended to make it my core business. So what if I can make alot of moola online? … staying at home all alone, working. Little social interaction, little challenges… totally boring life. Don’t be mistaken, it extremely lucrative and profitable online. If I work full-time as an online marketer, 1k per day is not an impossible task. However what’s the fun of it all? I remembered William was sharing that the reason he’s going Cambodia to help up and to serve the Lord is because when he reached the end of his life, he wanted to be able look back and find that he had led a meaningful life. No regrets.
What I am trying to say is… after long period of brainstorming. I finally thought of what I wanted to do. I do not want to reveal my business plan here. If you are interested, just ask me personally. Hints: Advertising, Surface Computing, Cloud Computing… That is probably too revealing already. So ciao, have a nice day!

New Blogskin, extra features and more of 5am

Some people might be wondering why I changed my blog theme (a.k.a blogskin). It was purely an accident. Most of you should know how busy I have being recently that I haven’t got the time to even update my blog, let alone revamp my blog design.
I just wanted to update my blog to the new version of wordpress but I accidentally overwrite the theme folder. And it was gone… all gone. My green-mouldy-looking theme. I actually like it very much. Especially since my ‘heady’ integrate nicely into the website.
It was gone! I don’t even have a screenshot of it to keep as a memory. What a waste. So I just grab another decent-looking theme. It needed something more… something which shout out “5AMUEL!”, something uniquely me.
So here’s what I added on top of the default configuration of the Theme: a tagboard, my heady, my heady with a twitter bird, my heady twitter bird shouting out a latest TWEET from Twitter, a photo album (pictures dynamically grabbed from my Facebook photos), and a hidden feature =)
Don’t want to keep you in suspense. For those of you who owns an android phone, iphone or ipod touch… use your device to check up my blog. My blog is IPhone/IPod Touch/Android-enabled.
Before my update… viewing my blog through an iphone would take. *Start Timer…* *Stop Timer* 24 seconds. With the new update, loading up the page will take only *Start Timer…* *Stop Timer* 6 seconds.
Not to mention it look cleaner and nicer to navigate =) A treat to all my dear readers on the move =)
I want to take this time to also thanks my readers. Sometime, I just don’t feel the drive to take the effort to write an interesting post. But you readers are the reason I kept on writing. I may not be a pro-blogger who made his living through blogging, but I take the task of entertaining you guys seriously.

I guess I need to update my blog. I can start seeing search-engine spiderweb and digital dust settling on the blog. I’m just busy with my work and I am on a tight schedule.
So here I am. What should I talk? Living life to the fullest. Working hard, playing harder… I think I shall share with you one of my favorite song. I was just playing Tap Tap Revenge 2 on my iPod Touch when I saw the song, ‘Give you Hell’ by All-American Rejects available for download.
Nice song. That’s why after playing, I decided to go look for the music video but… the video is not as nice as I expected… (see it for yourself)

My Role Model…

Its being a while since I last posted, reason being I want my newspaper article of me to be kept on top (featured) as long as possible =)
Many, many, many things happen over the course of this short period of time. Like relationship stuff, works, and own goals, etc. Let’s just talk about some generic topic… like who my role model is. You will be surprised. No! Its not myself =P (thick skin alert) Its actually my dad. Here’s a picture of him.
That’s him. I felt that he’s like the bestest dad ever. And because of him, it starts a “vicious” cycle of good dad in the future generation to come. Yep. I want to be a good father just like him in the future.
Not alot of my peers like their parents as much as I do =/ Maybe its just me… or perhaps they are really great parents =)
I guess I could go on with how great my dad is… but I assumed you get the point.
Now on to some other stuff.
Unknown to most people, some really BIG things happen in my life recently. Unknown to even more people, some really BAD things too. I’ve being asked how come I can overcome this so quickly and bounce right back up. No one was there to help but yet by the next day of the incident everything was fine. I do not think it was self-denial. I just manage to spend 1 night to overcome what most people took months.
And I need to sort up alot of stuffs in my life. Re-establish my relation with God, Re-organize my work desk and even Re-plan my life ahead (since I will no longer be studying)
I also need to Re-build my reputation of a helpful person =P Yep. I love helping people. Its almost like my interest. Man, how can I help others when I am all sad and gloomy and emo =/
No one will want help from an emo and sad person =P Its just like… seeking advice from a food nutritionist…
…who can’t even manage her own weight.
Getting a trainer who promised that you will be all strong and muscular within a month…
…when he’s all skinny and weak.
Seeing a doctor…
… who seem like he got lung caner and is being dripped.
Or seeing a psychiatrist…
…who is an emo!!??
It just don’t make sense. I need to resume my vibe and energy.
Anyway I still don’t want this post to be so long it will hide my newspaper article so ciao… I shall end here =)

I think of no other special chance to glorify God’s name than this. My face appear in 27th March TODAY newspaper. (Psst… Jacq face was there too)
God is in control of everything. He can give you anything. He can also take away what He gave you. I experience it first hand.
It started when I was in office. I received a call from a lecturer and was informed that I will be interviewed by a reporter. Was that cool or was that verrrry… cool!??? The first thing I did was to SMS my best friends (yea, plural). Basically, I tried to control my urge to tell the whole world. I was thinking… let’s just wait till I get on the paper.
The next day came, I did adequate preparation like… ehhh… shave, wash up and rehearse in my mind what I need to say to the reporter. Then after I cooled down, glorifying God came into my mind. I was thinking, beside thanking, lecturers and supportive parents, I need to thanks God. That’s when I realize I was like the fisherman, Simon Peter, in the Bible. When school of fishes appear around Simon Peter boat when he let down the net, he got so carried away into catching all those fishes. I always desired fame and when it came, I got so overwhelmed and excited that I forget to glorify God’s name. Only realizing after I cooled down. I felt really bad.
Then, someone from TDS call and said the interview is cancelled. I was a little disappointed. Perhaps, its a lesson God want me to learn. I just continued my day. Going for the Diploma Show. Explaining to everyone who visit the installation. I notice that was this guy who kept taking pictures at my booth and he stayed with the installation for quite some time. I was wondering why didn’t this guy take pictures of other installation? The shadow detection thingie installation is cool too… so is the stand-in-front-and-video-start installation. I was about to ask him, when he told me, “I am actually from MediaCorp, and so sorry, I am actually in a rush to get this on tomorrow’s paper so can you tell me a little bit more about your installation?” In my mind, it was just this, “Me..me..mee..mediaCorp!!”
After I recompose my mind, we just did a simple, impromptu ‘interview’ and he left.
Next day, the first thing I did was to rush to the petrol kiosk and grabbed a copy all the newspaper I could get my hand on. Straits Times, Newpaper, and went into a frenzy looking for the mention of me. I flipped through the 2 papers twice and it was nowhere to be found. Then I recalled, ”Me..me..mee..mediaCorp!!” OH! MediaCorp! Newspaper by MediaCorp is most probably TODAY so I went to TODAYonline.com to read today’s TODAY. I flipped through the PDF… and… my eyes were fixed onto a black piece of column. This is it! I’m on Paper!
First thing that went to my mind is to write this post and tell everyone how God blessed me, His Child, and that He has the authority to Give or to Take Away ones talents, fames, fortune. Nevertheless, it is all within God’s Plan.
Btw… my name card is ready. Be sure to grab one from me when you see me. Its basically a rubber stamp whereby I stamped it on a blank piece of name card. This requires a lot stamping skills and patient =P

I just watched the movie, Push and everyone that posses ability (power) has an -er behind the type of ability they possess. Someone with the ability to move things telekinesis-ly is known as Mover, someone with the ability to ‘watch’ into the future is known as Watcher, etc.
There’s this particular group call the Pusher, which reminds me a lot of Matt Parkman from Heroes. They have the ability to Push thoughts into others, even though they lack Parkman’s mind-reading ability, they still kick-ass.
Well, Updater is here to do an Update on his blog. Hope everyone is still watching closely for Updates.
First I had some people asking me, how’s my FYP. What did I do? Is it good? Well, I have to say that even though my design can still be improved, I am quite satisfied with the scope and overall quality of my project. Its a pity that I never film down the installation when people is playing with it but if you like, here’s the link to my Installation manual.
I am also quite happy that both my Project 4 (bicycle simulation system) and FYP (multi-touch mirror) installation are being used for our Diploma Show. To make it possible for my FYP interface to be on the Diploma Show, I also went back to school to help complete the multi-touch table my lecturers were building previously.
All these new technologies is truly amazing and I am glad to be one of the pioneer to explore new form of human-computer interaction (aka surface/physical computing). There will also be a lot of opportunities in this field as more and more people wanted to jump into bandwagon and there will be more and more demand for such designer/programmer. Recently I was referred by lecturers and got hold of such amazing opportunity. The company seek my expertise and I seek their experience in commercializing and packaging the technology, it was indeed a perfect match. Not to mention the project fee is also not bad for a fresh graduate like myself.

Staring into blank space…

… thinking what I should do. I’m still not used to the transition from schooling to becoming a free man. The stress and pressure to perform well just went away.
So, now what? Work freelance? Work in some design firm? Do some self-study? Or just focus on my business? I have not really made up my mind. Fact is, money is not really important to me now. I’m still living under my parents’ roof, receiving pocket money every week and always have money left each week (enough for me to spend/still able to satisfy my needs).
Maybe I should enjoy myself this few months? Go out with friends. Go out and eat, play, slack. And do only things that interest me.
Interesting things… things like… Augmented Reality??
With just a few lines of code in Actionscript. The camera can track any pattern on real time and create a 2D/3D on it.
Live video would be more impressive and reinforce the fact that this true AR and not just some photoshop crap.
The perspective of the cube will change according to the angle of the pattern. I will try and develop and showcase more Augmented Reality test/finished product in the future. Ciao. 4am now. Gotta sleep
